'Cherkizovskaya' is a station of Sokonicheskaya Line in Moscow Subway system situated between stations 'Ulitsa Podbelskogo' and 'Preobrazhenskaya Ploshad'. The station has been founded on August 1, 1990 as a part of the district from 'Preobrazhenskaya Ploshad' to 'Ulitsa Podbelskogo' and has been named according to an old village called Cherkizovo. This village is known since 1378 and has been named due to Serkiz, or Cherkiz, Golden Horde's tsarevitch, who had received this village as a gift when he was christened and entered the service of Dmitry Donskoy. In 1917 the village has been entered into the city, and since 1960s it's the area of mass housing construction. The station has two exits. From the southern one you can exit to Bolshaya Cherkizovskaya Ulitsa (rus. Большая Черкизовская улица, eng. Great Cherkizovo Street), from the northern one — to 'Cherkizovo' Moscow Little Ring Railway station and to the northern entrance of Lokomotiv stadium. Number of retiring passengers per day is 53,9 thousand, number of entering passengers per day is 47,9 thousand. 'Cherkizovskaya' is a single vault shallow station (the depth is 11 meters). A part of the vault and the track walls are faced with dark metal. the floor is faced with gray granite. Above the flights of stairs there are two stained-glass windows devoted to the different kinds of sports. The station is illuminated with the light reflected from the vault. It's expanded with the lamps hidden behind the top part of metal facing.
