The subway of Moscow » Sokolnicheskaya Line » 'Lubyanka'
'Lubyanka' is a station of Sokonicheskaya Line in Moscow Subway system situated between stations 'Chistiye Prudy' and 'Ohotnii Ryad'. The station has been founded on May 15, 1935 as a part of the first district of Moscow subway system from 'Sokolniki' to 'Park Kultury' with a branch from 'Ohotnii Ryad' to 'Smolenskaya' and has been named for Lubyanskaya Ploshad (rus. Лубянская Площадь, eng. Lubyanka Square). There are two ground-based vestibules of the station. From these vestibules you can exit to Lubyanka Square, Myasnitskaya Ulitsa (rus. Мясницкая улица, eng. Myasnitskaya Street), Nikolskaya Ulitsa (rus. Никольская улица, eng. Nikola Street). Near the station we can find Polytechnical Museum and 'Detskii Mir' (the shop called 'Children World'). Through the center of the station hall a transfer to station 'Kuznetskii Most' of Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line is established. Number of retiring passengers per day is 40,9 thousand, number of entering passengers per day is 40,7 thousand. 'Lubyanka' is a pylon trivault deep station (the depth is 32,5 meters). The pylons are faced with white marble. The floor is covered with black and red granite (since 1975; before this the floor covering was asphalt). The track walls are faced with white porcelain slab. On the station we can also find a marble bust of F. E. Dzerzhinsky.
