'Chistiye Prudy' is a station of Sokonicheskaya Line in Moscow Subway system situated between stations 'Krasniye Vorota' and 'Lubyanka'.

The date of station foundation and the name origin

The station has been founded on May 15, 1935 as a part of the first district of Moscow subway system from 'Sokolniki' to 'Park Kultury' with a branch from 'Ohotnii Ryad' to 'Smolenskaya' and has been named for Clean Ponds.

Exits and transfers

The station has a vestibule which is ground-based. It is situated in the beginning of Chistoprudny Boulevard (rus. Чистопрудный Бульвар, eng. Clean Ponds Boulevard). Also you can exit to Ploshad Myasnitsiye Vorota (rus. Площадь Мясницкие Ворота, eng. Myasnitkiye Vorota Square) and Myasnitskaya Ulitsa (rus. Мясницкая улица, eng. Myasnitskaya Street). Form the center of the station hall there is a transfer to station 'Turgenevskaya' of Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line. Aslo you can transfer to station 'Sretenskii Bulvar' of Lyublinskaya Line.

'Chistiye Prudy' is a pylon trivault deep station (the depth is 35 meters).

Decoration theme and materials of decoration

The station has two lines of coupled pylons faced with smoky and white marble. The vault bearings are hidden by the cornices, behind the cornices the lamps of the illumination are established. The floor is faced with gray and pink granite (from 1935 to 1972 the floor covering was made of asphalt). Near the station front wall there is a bronze bust of S. M. Kirov (because from 1935 to 1990 the station was known as 'Kirovskaya', or 'Kirov' in English).
